My first impressions

1. You should have a loading screen that lets the user know that your game is loading and not broken. I was looking at a plain whit screen in the beginning there.

2. You should also have a big colorful button on the menu screen that says "Click here to play" or something like that. Don't force your user to type something to begin to play the game. It took me a few seconds to realize that there was a text bubble that tells you what to type.

3. The voice in the beginnig of the game takes an active effort to listen to, and I've already lost my patience with it and it's still going as I write this review. If you expect your user to actually listen to it, you should simply what it's saying and make it more clear. Or you can include some text on the screen too.

4. The point of the game isn't very well explained. At first I thought that you might be able to move about the room, but it seems as though I'm just supposed to wait around until 6 or something While I look at the map, shine the flashlight down the door, and activate the "working" sign, and go hide in the closet. I'm still not sure what the strategy is, and after too many minutes of nothing happening, I don't particularly care anymore.

It's a solid demo

Of course you have no actual game yet, but it seems technically solid.

I think you ought to give your character the ability to duck, or lay on the ground(like in contra) and dodge bullets like that. That would make your game a whole lot more fun

Also, it's a problem when your enemies move into a corner where you can't hit them anymore. give them some AI

Worse than breakout

Normally in breakout games, you can control the way the ball bounces based on where it lands on your paddle. in this game you have no such control, and it's annoying to see the ball go all the way back across the screen when you only have a few blocks left.

Also Sometimes I would advance to the next level without actually clearing all(or even most) of the blocks. Is this that "cheat" you mentioned?

I did that on purpose so you wouldn't have to wait to clear them all, and that's not the cheat.

Decent story, great musci.

I did quite like the story. It wasn't too terribly deep, but nothing on newgrounds really is.

The music is very good, and It really drives the quality more than anything else.

When you make a flash submission to Newgrounds, you can choose whether you want to submit it as a movie or as a game. This is a movie.

There's an issue with the word wrapping. Since you render your words in a typewriter fashion, words toward the end of a row will begin on one line, and when they get too long, they move across the screen and 1 row down. This is distracting and confusing for some, and is a bug that needs fixing.

Don't work

Apparently you're supposed to see 4 choices. Instead, I'm seeing nothing there. not even an option to go back to the main menu or leave the game. I have to restart to get back to the menu

I want to see the mouse

You can't see where the mouse is on the screen. This makes it annoying when the mouse goes off the top or bottom of the screen

I did have the mouse pointer visible in early builds, and it just obstructed the view too much and looked nasty.

good game for the most part

The game does have one seriously crippling flaw, however, and that is the input handling. Occasionally you'll stop for a second which makes the game annoying to play.

If i were you I'd take another look at your input handling

I did notice this, but as much as I searched for solutions most people had the same input setup.. Keypress sets Boolean to true, EnterFrame event Moves player when its true.. Ill keep looking into it though, thanks for the review :)

It's duck hunt

It's duckhunt, except with no light gun, more waiting, and stupid sound effects. It brings nothing new at all. You couldn't even shoot the dog.
